Pinot Vom Berg, Birgit Braunstein (75cl)
Birgit Braunstein's family has been growing vines next to lake Neusiedl in Austria for 400 years. She works organically and biodynamically across a wide range of terroirs, and her wines - alive with pure fruit, precision and elegance - reflect this natural balance.
Grapes: Pinot Noir
Region: Burgenland, Austria
Tasting notes/pairing options: A light bodied, refreshing summery wine, with red berries and amarelle cherries on the nose. A year in oak gives balance and softness.
Biodynamic, suitable for vegans and vegetarians
The grapes are sourced from the Heide vineyard on the slopes of the Leitha Mountains. The Pannonian climate, unique to this area has a continental influence that is moderated by Lake Neusiedl. The region has cold, wet winters, hot dry summers and a long mild autumn. High sunshine hours, cool nights and protection of the Leithaberg forests make the perfect microclimate to ripen grapes whilst maintaining good acidity. The soils are shell limestone.
We are a close family business and are currently in our second generation. We are based on our natural lavender farm, Yorkshire Lavender in the North Yorkshire countryside.
So why wine?
With a member of our staff, Timi, a trained sommelier; it seemed crazy to let that enthusiasm and experience go to waste.
